Your Collection

probably contains photographs of at least five generations of ancestors, since photography became commonplace in the 1880's, but they are fading. You also probably have more than one descendant who wants to inherit the collection.
Your collection risks destruction from water, heat, theft and loss, despite your best efforts, and when it's gone, no amount of insurance money will get it back.
The logical answer is to

Digitise, Duplicate, Distribute and Display,

the first three being vital to the collection's survival,
and to do it soon to stop the decay, and before the unthinkable and unlikely happens.
That's where I come in.
For a very reasonable price I can do it for you, and do it to a much higher quality standard than most people can manage. Contact me by phone or e-mail at

and start the ball rolling.

The photographs on this site

to illustrate what I do, were taken from my mother's and grandmother's collections. I've selected a hundred, that covers 6 generations, to show the range of items that make an interesting record. This website design, with your own header and footer, can be expanded to accommodate 1000,s of images.

Digitise

As a professional photographer, I've had to develop professional quality conversions from film and paper to digital, and my results using a professional 12 megapixal camera, macro lenses, and professional lighting arrangements are better than anything I've seen from scanning machines. The original high resolution digital images are archived as the master files for future use, but may be copied and converted to lesser formats for immediate usage on websites and digital prints. Digital images are often better than the original photographs, as the tone and colour range can be adjusted to accommodate fading and an original's faulty processing.

Duplicate

With absolutely no loss in quality. The first digital copy is identical to the last, and there is no limit to the quantity that can be made.

Distribute

to those people who have an interest, but also a copy of the master files to two places seperated by miles rather than feet, so a damaged copy of the digital files can be replaced immediately. Unless you ask me not to, I'll keep a full set here, so that the security and back-up requirement will be satisfied.

Display

After the security is sorted, the fun starts. You can have, for example, a collection of A4 size "thumbnail" prints in a folder with 20 images per print, so you can store and show the collection, without equipment, with a minimum of fuss. You can order individual prints for room décor. All are printed using pigment inks that should outlast the originals by a big margin. You can have a selection of your images made up into websites similar to this one, and recorded on disks, or uploaded to a host web server of your choice. The variety of display options are endless, and you are not limited to what I produce personally. If you get a notion to publish a book, I can convert the images to the correct version of CMYK for the printing presses.

Costing

depends on the quantity, and what you want in your hands at the end of the process. Consider splitting the collection and doing a selection of the oldest and most valuable first, and then adding to it later. Contact me, and I'll do a costing for you.
